Wireless Speakers

Although the research and development in the field of acoustics has made headway, an ideal, affordable, dependable and quality wireless speaker system still remains a dream.

We already have wireless media players that work on a firmly established audio technology and provide for an easy integration between the audio and the video data from PCs, notebooks and other devices accessible thorough the home network, but TVs, speakers and stereo systems are still connected with each other through the webs of cables. There is an understandable reason too. The video files transmitted to the receiver sets are generally very huge and require more bandwidth than is easily available.

Then there are problems related to audio-video synchronization and sound quality that have bedeviled the past research endeavors and products in this field. Besides, there are also the walls and ceilings in the houses that bar the free and faultless transmission of sound from one room to another. Most wireless videos work satisfactorily only until someone enters the room and interferes with the signal. The distances too pose problems. The observers of the wireless speaker products offered in the market have given poor reviews about them.

The matter of fact is that there is no really complete wireless speaker system because these systems need some element of even minimal connectivity to the power source. The wireless speaker systems still need to amplify the sound either through an integrated amplifier or an external unit.
Some companies have devised battery powered wireless speaker systems, but the batteries are more suitable for multi-room audio or for external listening rather than for home theaters. The battery power has its own limitations of time and capacity to provide ample audio power for home theaters in an affordable way.

The central factor for a truly wireless speaker set up is not the total absence of wires, but some added flexibility and ease with which you can do away with the wiring of your speakers all through the length and breadth of your room irrespective of the fact whether you want to set up rear surround sound speakers or some remote speakers installed for a multi-room set up.
A home theater with true and wireless high definition multimedia interface that the home theater lovers would like to achieve is still an unattainable destination.
